It is a story told through illustrations of a young girl how finds a cute, little puppy on a street but her mother doesn't let her bring the puppy home. She thinks of the puppy on the way home, then at home, whatever she did the puppy remained on her mind. Black and white, a color of memories, and a remembered world add to the mood of the story. Its soft lines and permeable watercolor that moves into the paper giving it a beautiful tone make it sweeter for the eyes to admire it for a few moments. There are so many things to look at in each illustration...the cover page, for instance, tells you that a happy, little girl is going on a bus but do you see a bus? or only a window? Is the bus moving? How do we know? An illustration on 2-dimensional paper can give a likeness of a movement with just a few lines. Isn't it amazing! |
