| Bibliography, etc | This book presents first-hand field research by a team of designers at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, from 1979 to 1986. In carrying out this path-breaking project the team has set new standards of quality in craft documentations in India and elsewhere. A rich material culture based on traditional bamboo utilization has been observed with deep empathy and recorded in a meticulous manner using expressive sketches, structural diagrams, photographs and field notes, all of which form the core of the book's contents. It is richly illustrated with photographs and 400 line diagrams that reveal the intricate structure and technology, as understood by the people of the Northeastern region of India. |
